White Sox @ Twins
More or Less Contest
Carlos Rodon more than 5.5 strikeouts and Jose Berrios less than 5.5 strikeouts
While the Twins are posting a respectable 20.6% K rate vs. left-handed pitching over the previous 10 days, this number is just too low for Rodon. Rodon has struck out at least eight in all but two starts this season and has only failed to reach this total once in 14 starts. He also just faced these Twins in his previous start and managed to strike out eight, so the number being listed at 5.5 is a bit curious.
Berrios also just faced these White Sox and did not manage to strike out a single one of them across his five innings of work. This result is likely due to the fact that the White Sox have the best K rate in baseball against right-handers over the previous 10 days with a rate of just 17.1%. The WHite Sox offense is also hot as they are posting a 154 wRC+ vs. righties over the previous 10 days, which should make Berrios' job even more difficult.

Athletics @ Astros
More or Less Contest
Framber Valdez less than 6.5 strikeouts and Chris Bassitt more than 4.5 strikeouts
Valdez has not gone over this total in any of his four previous starts and does not exactly have a cake matchup in this one vs. Oakland. Oakland is posting a K rate of 21.5% vs. left-handers over the previous 10 days, which is ranked in the middle of the pack. They are posting a sad 28 wRC+ mark, which makes this play a bit risky, but Valdez has faced Detroit and Cleveland in his previous two starts, both of which are ranked inside the top half of baseball in terms of K rate vs. lefties over the previous 10 days, and failed to reach seven strikeouts against both of them.
The Astros are very good at not striking out against right-handers as they have a rate of just 17.6% over the previous 10 days, but this number is just a bit low for Bassitt. Bassitt has struck out at least five in all but two starts since the beginning of May and has also done it in seven of his eight previous starts. The Astros have also been banged up and are posting just a 91 wRC+ mark over the previous 10 days vs. right-handers, so Bassitt may not find himself in trouble that early.
