MLB DFS Picks Today: Daily Fantasy Baseball Strategy and Tips For FanDuel, DraftKings (7/9/25)

MacKenzie Gore - Fantasy Baseball Rankings, MLB Draft Sleepers, Waiver Wire Pickups

Thunder Dan's top DraftKings and FanDuel MLB DFS picks for today, Wednesday, 7/9/25. His favorite daily fantasy baseball lineup sleepers and value picks for DFS on DraftKings and FanDuel.

While Wednesdays are usually a day that gets chopped up with early action with day games, today we have only a few teams in action early, leaving us with a very solid 11-game main slate on both FanDuel and DraftKings.

There are some games with rain in the forecast, so be sure to check the weather before finalizing any lineups tonight and avoid taking pitchers in games with potential postponement. The riskiest game appears to be in Baltimore, where we want some Mets bats tonight, so stay tuned.

This article will provide my daily fantasy baseball lineup picks for DraftKings and FanDuel on 7/9/2025, with the slate starting at 7:05 PM EST. The lineup picks will showcase elite players, mid-priced options, and value plays. You can also read more DFS advice and lineup picks for other sports here. Monitoring injury news and today's MLB starting lineups is always essential.

DraftKings, FanDuel Pitchers - MLB DFS Lineup Picks

Kris Bubic, KCR vs. PIT ($10K DK/$10.3K FD)

Bubic makes for a great cash game play today, and I expect a lot of DFS players to roll with the KC lefty against the lowly Pirates. Bubic had a very reliable floor pretty much all season and gets one of the best matchups as Pittsburgh is a bottom-5 offense against lefties.

It also helps that he's a big favorite who is pitching at home in a pitcher-friendly park. Bubic's SIERA of 3.56 is the fourth-best on the slate, and he brings some strikeout appeal with a 25.6% K%.

MacKenzie Gore, WAS at STL ($9.8K DK/$9.6K FD)

Today might be a good day to "buy the dip," as Gore has had two shaky outings in his last three starts. His overall numbers still look great, and if he can tighten up the control, I think he can return to form against a St. Louis team that ranks just 28th against LHP (worse than Pittsburgh!) over the last month.

Lucas Giolito, BOS vs. COL ($8.5 DK/$9.7K FD)

We love picking on the Rockies, especially away from Coors. The numbers validate it, too, as Colorado has one of the highest strikeout rates and worst offensive metrics (25th in wRC+ over the last month) against RHP.

Giolito seems to have found some form of late, and while I am still not sold on him having turned it around completely, I think it's unlikely he unravels against an easy target tonight. The FD price is a bit elevated, but his DK price makes him an ideal cash game choice.

DraftKings, FanDuel Infielders - MLB DFS Lineup Picks

Corey Seager, SS - TEX ($4.4 DK/$3.4K FD)

Seager continues to pour on the offense lately, homering again last night for the second game in a row. He's looking more like his former self with each passing day, and he's been productive when he's been in the lineup.

Kyle Hendricks is not at the top of my list for targets and could troll here against a full stack, but Seager crushes righties and is likely to make some quality contact against Hendricks, who doesn't miss many bats.

I love this price, too. I am not sure what Seager has to do to get priced up with other stars, but I am willing to take the discount.

Nick Kurtz, 1B - ATH ($4.7K DK/$3.3K FD)

Kurtz had his power on display again last night, blasting another home run and adding a double while driving in four runs. He's still priced very fairly on both sites, and as the cleanup hitter on my top stack of the night, I am going to have plenty of shares of Kurtz.

This ballpark in Sacramento is one that we have to keep targeting for offense when we get hittable pitchers on the mound, and Bryce Elder certainly qualifies there.

Max Muncy, 3B on DK (SS/2B on FD) - ATH ($3K DK/$2.6K FD)

Muncy is one of my favorite values on this slate, and his multi-position eligibility on FanDuel is going to come in handy when building lineups.

Muncy's home run last night was his third in his last six games. He's been coming on strong and earning a chance to play every day for the Athletics. Don't sleep on him as a great value in cash formats, and I'm going to include him in my Athletics stacks as well.

Others To Consider (CASH/GPP):

DraftKings, FanDuel Outfielders - MLB DFS Lineup Picks

Wilyer Abreu, OF - BOS ($4.8K DK/$3.4K FD)

Anytime that Abreu is set to face a mediocre or bad RHP, he's almost an auto-play for me at this point. Antonio Senzatela qualifies as a bad righty, as he enters today's game with an ERA of 6.57, which is backed by a 6.60 xERA. Rarely do we see ERA estimators validate high ERAs, but Senzatela gives up so much loud contact (and just contact in general with a measly 6.9% SwStr%) that the batted ball data validates his horrible ERA.

Boston has been running on offense, and they are expected to score 5.9 runs again tonight at home. We finally get a chance to stack the lefties today, and I will be doing just that in several tournament lineups.

Byron Buxton, OF - MIN ($6.3K DK/$4K FD)

Buxton is having a huge year with 20 home runs and 16 steals before the All-Star Break. He continues to be one of the most dangerous leadoff men in baseball and is finally staying healthy (fingers crossed) for enough games to put up big numbers.

Today, he faces rookie Cade Horton, who has shown some significant reverse splits. He's allowing 2.1 HR/9 to RHH, and his FIP is three runs higher to righties than lefties. It's a perfect matchup for Buxton, who has hit RHP well this season and throughout his career.

Brandon Nimmo, OF - NYM ($4.5K DK/$3K FD)

Nimmo has been one of the hottest hitters in baseball over the last month. He's hitting for average and power while swiping some bags, too. I'm blown away at how cheap he is on today's slate, especially on FanDuel, where he costs just 3k.

Tomoyuki Sugano is a pitcher I love to pick on. He has a terrible fastball and is reliant on his splitter and offspeed pitches. A patient team that doesn't chase outside the zone can force him into throwing more fastballs in the zone and destroy them.

Lefties have pummelled Sugano for 12 home runs already this season, and Camden Yards is one of the best hitting venues for left-handed power. Juan Soto should be in the mix tonight, too, but Nimmo is considerably cheaper and has been producing just as much.

Others To Consider (CASH/GPP):

DraftKings, FanDuel MLB DFS Stacks

1. Athletics vs. Bryce Elder (ATL)

The Athletics put up a 10-spot last night and get another struggling Atlanta pitcher tonight. Elder has an xERA of 6.00, 10.7% barrel rate, 94% Z-Contact%, and 1.97 HR/9. I can't help but think that it's going to end up badly for him at this hitter-friendly venue in Sacramento.

Favorite Combo: Butler, Rooker, Kurtz, Soderstrom, Muncy

2. New York Mets vs. Tomoyuki Sugano (BAL)

The Mets' production is usually pretty consolidated among their top hitters, so while I don't usually advise just stacking a team's top four hitters, it makes more sense with the Mets. They're facing Sugano, who has poor batted ball data (12% barrel rate, 5.78 xERA) and a home run problem (1.83 HR/9).

Favorite Combo: Nimmo, Lindor, Soto, Alonso

Also consider: NY Yankees vs. Logan Evans, Boston Red Sox vs. Antonio Senzatela

Favorite Combo: Tucker, Suzuki, Crow-Armstrong, Busch
