The small slate yesterday leads to a large one today. Both sites chopped off those games that had the audacity to start 25 minutes earlier than the masses. That shortens the main slate to 11 games, but that's still plenty...especially after the three-gamer yesterday in which Coors popped off. Most of this article is going to read as places to go as pivots off of Coors. Just don't pivot too much.
This article will provide my daily fantasy baseball lineup picks for DraftKings and FanDuel on Tuesday, July 2, 2024, with the slate starting at 7:05 p.m. EDT. The lineup picks will range from some elite players to mid-priced options and value plays.

DraftKings, FanDuel Pitchers - MLB DFS Lineup Picks
Dylan Cease at TEX ($10.3K DraftKings; $10.2K FanDuel)
The strikeouts are still there for Cease, but he had a couple of bad outings in June. Both the Mets and the Brewers got to him. I'm not worried about Texas. They have an awful .100 ISO against right-handed pitching over the month. For reference, the 29th-place team (Oakland) is sitting at .118 over the same period.
The 21% strikeout rate isn't abnormally high, but the swing-and-miss stuff hasn't been the problem for Cease. He has 19 strikeouts over 11 2/3 innings in his last two starts. Even when Texas is making contact, they aren't doing anything with it. That leaves Cease with a high floor worth paying for.
Padres Dylan Cease Slider is so nasty today that Nationals hitters are literally throwing their bats in an attempt to hit it. pic.twitter.com/ZBsQb3pRBG

Grayson Rodriguez at SEA ($9.4K DraftKings; $10.2K FanDuel)
Rodriguez hasn't had a clean start since May 18. It was against Seattle. Rodriguez has been markedly worse on the road this year, but Seattle is one of the few parks that is more friendly to pitchers than Camden Yards since they moved the fences back. Rodriguez struck out seven in six innings of one-hit ball in that game. The Mariners continue to strike out at an alarming rate (27.3% last 30; 28.4% on the season against RHP). Rodriguez has the potential for a ceiling game tonight.
Brady Singer vs. TB ($8.2K DraftKings; $9.1K FanDuel)
Most bailed on Brady after a shady start against the Yankees on June 11. He has only given up five runs in three starts since. One of those starts was against the Dodgers. Singer isn't striking out a lot of batters, but he has hope for a better outcome today. The Rays are striking out at a 24.6% clip against righties in the past month. Don't expect a great outing from Singer, but the extra strikeouts should help mitigate the damage.
Also consider: Tarik Skubal at MIN; Reynaldo Lopez vs. SF; Simeon Woods Richardson vs. DET

DraftKings, FanDuel Infielders - MLB DFS Lineup Picks
Shohei Ohtani – 1B/OF, LAD vs. Ryne Nelson ($6.7K DK; $4.8K FD)
Congratulations to Shohei Ohtani on being named to the MLB team of the month for June 🔥
During the month, Shohei had 12 HR, 24 RBI, and a 1.110 OPS 👏 pic.twitter.com/pXkFjf2OoO
— CAA Baseball (@CAA_Baseball) July 1, 2024
Ohtani also caught fire in June last season. Nine of his 12 June homers were hit after Father's Day. Ohtani has 14 runs scored and 18 RBI to go with those nine homers in the last half of June. If you can afford him, there is none better than Ohtani right now.
Alex Bregman – 3B, HOU vs. Jose Berrios ($4.1K DK; $3.1K FD)
This is your friendly reminder that Berrios has been pitching with a horseshoe in his glove all season. The 86% strand rate is unsustainable, and the 6.58 K/9 is by far the lowest of his career. Berrios isn't missing bats, and only 14% of runners that reach base on him cross home plate. The regression is going to be nasty when it happens. It might be today, considering Bregman has a .261/.355/.609 slash line against Berrios in 23 at-bats with two homers and two doubles.
Armando Alvarez – 2B, OAK vs. Zac Gallen ($2.7K DK; $2.5K FD)
The A's called up Alvarez, with Abraham Toro landing on the IL. Alvarez has six hits in his first 12 at-bats. You may have noticed all of the big price tags above here. We're going to need some value, and Alvarez is providing a lot at a minimal price. He has little power and marginal speed, but getting on base eight times in his first 17 plate appearances counts for something.
Also consider: Brice Turang, Elly De La Cruz, Willy Adames
DraftKings, FanDuel Outfielders - MLB DFS Lineup Picks
Aaron Judge – OF, NYY vs. Graham Ashcraft ($6.6K DK; $4.9K FD)
I know...it's a no-brainer that Judge hits everything hard. He hits every pitch type well. Judge just does it all. It is worth noting that he hits cutters -- a pitch that Ashcraft throws 46.7% of the time -- better than most. Judge is hitting .471 with a 1.176 SLG against cutters this year. Good luck, Mr. Ashcraft. You're going to need it.
Aaron Judge last 50 games
.398/.507/.932 (1.439 OPS)That is the highest OPS over any 50-game season span by a right-handed hitter. EVER.

Brenton Doyle – OF, COL vs. Dallas Keuchel ($4.7K DK; $3.4K FD)
Yes, Dallas Keuchel is still around, but you'll never convince me that he should be on a major league roster. He gave up two homers in his first 2024 start against the struggling Rangers. What do you think the righty-heavy Rockies will do to him? I'll pay to play. Doyle, the leadoff batter in these parts, opened the homestand in style last night with two homers and a steal. He should add to that tonight.
Byron Buxton – OF, MIN vs. Tarik Skubal ($4.3K DK; $3.1K FD)
I have good news and bad news. Want the bad news first? Buxton has struck out five times in eight career at-bats against Skubal. The good news is that both of Buxton's hits against Skubal have left the yard. Buxton has four homers in his last six games with 11 RBI in that span. A Buxton one-off is a great way to take a shot at a highly-rostered Skubal for GPP leverage.
Also consider: Juan Soto, Corbin Carroll, Brandon Marsh, Heston Kjerstad
