FanDuel, DraftKings NHL DFS Lineup Picks (10/18/18): Daily Fantasy Hockey

Tom Vecchio's top NHL DFS lineup picks on FanDuel, DraftKings for 10/18/18. Expert daily fantasy hockey advice, sleepers & player recommendations.

NHL is back! We have a nine-game slate to look at tonight and we are starting to get a few games into the season, so we should be able to start looking at some more stats soon. Personally, I like Corsi For, which is an advanced shot metric shot which can help identify offensive opportunity.

Vegas lines are big when it comes to picking games to target, and that's a good place to start for goalies. When it comes to skaters, goal totals is another main place to start. Usually, 5.5 goals are average, so targets game at six, and can look for goalies in games with a total at five.

In this article, I will be providing you with my daily fantasy hockey lineup picks for DraftKings and FanDuel on 10/18/18. The lineup picks will range from some of the elite players to mid-priced options and value plays. If you have any questions or comments, feel free to hit me up on Twitter @DFS_Tom. Let's get to it, shall we?

DFS Forwards to Consider

Brad Marchand - W, BOS @ EDM (FD - $8,200, DK - $7,100)

Marchand has 10 points in five games this season and has scored a point in all but one game. He is now up against the Oilers who should have Cam Talbot in net, who has given up three or more goals in three of his four games this season. Marchand is up on the top forward line and the top power-play unit.

Pierre-Luc Dubois - C, CLS vs PHI (FD - $6,200, DK - $5,500)

Dubois is up on the top forward line and the first power-play unit, who should be in a good spot to score plenty of points tonight. This game has an over-under set at six tonight, so a higher scoring game which should be faster paced. He has 12 shots and eight blocked shots through five games.

DFS Defenders to Consider

Drew Doughty - D, LA vs NYI (FD - $5,500, DK - $5,400)

Doughty is mainly a cash game play since you are looking for his floor of points rather than his potential ceiling. The Kings offense isn't one you are truly going out of your way to roster but with Doughty having 11 blocked shots and seven shots on goal through six games. He plays a ton of minutes every game and should be good at his price.

Tyler Myers - D, WPG vs VAN (FD - $3,800, DK - $3,500)

Myers is on the second power-play unit for the Jets, who are at home against the Canucks in a game where the over-under set at 6.5. He is very cheap across the industry and should be a very viable GPP play tonight, not so much for cash games.

DFS Goalies to Consider

Andrei Vasilevskiy - G, TB vs DET (FD - $9,000, DK - $8,500)

Vasilevskiy is the most expensive goalie on both sites tonight, but he comes in as a -300 favorite at home. That means he should be a near lock for the win, which is exactly what you want in cash games. The upside for saves might not be there, but this is like paying for a high-end pitcher who is going to the "safe" right option on a slate.
