Welcome to the August 8th edition of Daily Slivers of the Fantasy Soapbox.
Discussing baseball is as fun as the game itself. It has a way of bringing people together to share different opinions about the sport we all love. A similar action can be done with fantasy baseball where we not only discuss topics but also look to improve our teams as well as the teams of our fellow fantasy baseball enthusiasts. Everyone has their own perspectives which are not to be cast off as frivolous. They should be used as a method of expanding our own knowledge.
In this article, I review the previous day's boxscores and provide my opinion on a variety of topics. Some will be random, some will be fun, and some will be stat-driven. It's a soapbox so I may rant from time to time as well. So without any further delay, below are my thoughts on August 7th games. Enjoy them. You can even respond with your own thoughts on Twitter @EllisCan2.

Daily Musings
- Fernando Tatis Jr. provides another scoop of joy (five). 15 HR/10 SB club, here we come.
- Charlie Blackmon making that easy money. Third homer, .423 AVG.
- Blake Snell w/ no-hitter (three IP). Tanaka matches his 59 pitches through five IP.
- Can you believe someone got Mike Trout (five HR) at pick 20?
- Christian Yelich batting .333 w/ two HR! Victory over last two games. The rush is on.
- Khris Davis w/ one HR & .185 AVG. Krushing, I know.
- O’s hit seven doubles.
- Renato Nunez seeing righties well. 5 HR, .300 AVG.
- Aaron Judge (seven) proudly sits alone atop the MLB HR mountain. Nick Castellanos (seven) barges in & plops himself down next to him. Gimme some room, pal.
- Dear Trea Turner. Give it today’s best. We support you.
- The Lions beat the Steelers 17-13. What?! That was a baseball score?
- In a 30-run game, how does the dominoes of stats fall to all the other players but mine?
- Erik Gonzalez firing obselenly long range missiles (443 ft).
- Michael Wacha struck out nine, remarkable. But so is the four ER.
- Their prized acquisition, Alex Verdugo (three), doubles your enjoyment.
- I’m so parched. It’s like the Sahara out here for J.D. Martinez owners. 0 HR.
- Woah-oh, here he comes. Byron Buxton with back-to-back HR games. He has finally arrived!! .174 baggage, I mean AVG.
- Whit Merrifield, we can’t waste these SB opportunities. Stay alive out there.
- Man-bun power. Josh Staumont gently tosses it 101 MPH.
- How’s your confidence, now? Aaron Civale w/ 7 IP, 1 ER, 5K vs ChiSox. DET next. Giggity giggity.
- Dylan Cease w/ the W. No, I don’t like seeing more BB (5) than K(4).
- 6% owned Eric Lauer. If you started him, now you know the source of rib cage pain (3 IP, 6 ER, 3 BB).
- Like two kids shoving to get to the ice cream truck first. Trevor Bauer (6 IP, 1 ER, 12 K) & Sonny Gray jostle for Cy Young prestige.
- I hope everyone was able to adjust their weekend lineup locks for the STL game postponements.
- Isiah Kiner-Falefa cannot be stopped on the base paths (fourth SB). Wish I had shares.
- Imagine how embarrassed fantasy owners are to see Josh James & Lance McCullers Jr. crumble thus far. ~ Yours Truly.
- Stop laughing at Marcus Semien, Mr. Jose Altuve. Your .190 AVG is no better than his. Of course, Semien’s .276 BABIP isn’t encouraging.
- Bravo, young man. Bravo! Mr. Jake Cronenworth with a mighty round-tripper. (Said in terrible British accent)
- Update for Mallex Smith owners. There has been a SB. Dry your eye a bit from that .147 AVG.
- Yes, if you’d only let Garrett Hampson (HR) play, we would see more of his wonderful attributes.
- Need help at catcher? Consider Chadwick Tromp for your 2020 roster.
- No, No, NO! Please don’t take Corey Seager away.
- Edwin Rios crushes his third HR. “Wow, I’m as good as Mookie Betts (three HR).” Sit down, kid. You’re not there yet.
- Julio Urias only goes four innings?! Damn, I think I just grew another gray hair.
- K-BB% **Stat I love to use. A couple of interesting names:

- Edwin Diaz w/ another clean inning. Confidence building.
- Brandon Workman (three).
- Trevor Rosenthal (two). Ah, that’s better.
- Alex Colome (four).
- Remember when Corey Knebel was an option (1 IP, 2 ER). He’s not ready.
- Rafael Montero (one). More options?
- Kirby Yates (two).
- Cy Sneed (BS). Fumbled. Not an option.
