Welcome to the August 4th edition of Daily Slivers of the Fantasy Soapbox.
Discussing baseball is as fun as the game itself. It has a way of bringing people together to share different opinions about the sport we all love. A similar action can be done with fantasy baseball where we not only discuss topics but also look to improve our teams as well as the teams of our fellow fantasy baseball enthusiasts. Everyone has their own perspectives which are not to be cast off as frivolous. They should be used as a method of expanding our own knowledge.
In this article, I review the previous day's boxscores and provide my opinion on a variety of topics. Some will be random, some will be fun, and some will be stat-driven. It's a soapbox so I may rant from time to time as well. So without any further delay, below are my thoughts on August 3rd games. Enjoy them. You can even respond with your own thoughts on Twitter @EllisCan2.

Daily Musings
- Sonny Gray (3-0) cruises 6 IP, 1 ER, 8 K. What’s this? Oh it’s for your Cy Young candidacy.
- What’s so special about three homers, Francisco Lindor? Joey Votto has three w/ 85 MPH Exit Velocity on FB/LD.
- Nick Castellanos marking his territory everywhere he goes. Fifth stamp of approval.
- Grisham novel cont: The espresso gave Beau & Josephine a jolt of energy. Their morning jaunt through the woods had to include a race. The competitive, but friendly, event was an enthusiastic 436-foot Run Home. While Beau frolics with his love, his old flame, Millie-B, sat in sadness.
- Hold your head up high, Zach Plesac. Detroit is next…well, after the White Sox.
- Jesse Winker, you need get right quick. The talk isn’t about you hitting lefties anymore. It’s about you hitting. Oh, and stop winking at me.
- Remember when everyone wanted one of Franmil Reyes or Kyle Schwarber? I don’t think this fight makes it on the undercard right now. Schwarber leads early.
- Thank you, Mets, for giving Jacob deGrom some run support. 30.6% K-BB% for the big man.
- Luke Jackson looking like my long lost cousin these days. Just keep pitching well, cuz.
- DJ LeMahieu w/squeaker HR (352 ft). “Hold my beer.” ~ Brett Gardner (351 ft)
- Ok, ok. You stole a base. You’ve had your fun. Now go get your cryo leg recovery boots on, Giancarlo Stanton.
- Catcher-powered. Travis D'Arnaud and the Buffalo Wilson Ramos flex the guns.
- Terrible outing for Mike Soroka. Not just performance-wise, but also a season-ending injury. Get well soon, young man.
- Congrats, Cole Tucker. You have more homers than J.D. Martinez. However, I don’t think the 22-degree launch angle and 83.8 MPH Exit Velo on FB is a good combination.
- There’s Nelson Cruz right where you expect, atop the RBI leaderboard (14).
- Byron Buxton, remember that one time you got a hit?
- I recall all the disrespect Jose Abreu received during drafts. Your second power ballad is sweet music to my ears.
- Yoan Moncada (second HR) continues to climb the 2021 3B ranks. Yes, of course, top five.
- You might need to grab a lady to help you tighten up that bun, Josh Staumont. I respect the confidence.
- Kris Bryant showing some life. First bit of THUNDER!
- Alec Mills & Danny Duffy with a pitching duel. Mills owners are giddy for W. Duffy owners thankful for six decent innings.
- Look up Chadwick Tromp (445 ft) in the dictionary. It means, “I hit HRs farther than Nolan Arenado (430 ft).”
- How many are mad about all their Donovan Solano, Brandon Belt, Evan Longoria additions (combined 2-for-12)? Series is early, but maybe Alex Dickerson was the better buy.
- Frankie Montas needs no extra additive to whoop up on the Mariners.7 IP, 1 ER, 9 K. Hosting HOU next might be a different story.
- Krush Davis unwinds and unloads on his first long ball of 2020.
- Wil Myers (three) decided to increase his opposite-field drama, the 402 ft variety.
- Walker Buehler might need to shave that fuzz off his face. The rally fuzz allowed three dingers.
- Corey Seager still has the lead (23), but Christian Walker (17) & Robinson Cano (16) are intriguing top-five names on the 95+ MPH hits list.
- Endgame
- Raisel Iglesias (one). Yes, the jobs still his, who else did you think would have it?
- Zach Britton (four). If Aroldis Chapman is clear and worked out like a fiend, where is he? Oh, alternative site. I mean, alternate training site.
- Nick Burdi (BS). Well, the Twins will do that to you.
- Alex Colome (two).
- Rowan Wick (two). Not looking definitive just yet, but Baba Yaga taking control.
- Jairo Diaz (two). 1 IP, 2 R. It counts.
- Kirby Yates (two). Clean? No.
- Don't let any hurricane stop you from having a great day. Stay dry, but stress-free. Make your Tuesday an amazing one.
- No Fear, Just Fantasy.
