Welcome to the June 3rd edition of Daily Slivers of the Fantasy Soapbox.
Discussing baseball is as fun as the game itself. It has a way of bringing people together to share different opinions about the sport we all love. A similar action can be done with fantasy baseball where we not only discuss topics but also look to improve our teams as well as the teams of our fellow fantasy baseball enthusiasts. Everyone has their own perspectives which are not to be cast off as frivolous. They should be used as a method of expanding our own knowledge.
In this article, I review the previous day's boxscores and provide my opinion on a variety of topics. Some will be random, some will be fun, and some will be stat-driven. It's a soapbox so I may rant from time to time as well. So without any further delay, below are my thoughts on the Jun 2nd games. Enjoy them. You can even respond with your own thoughts on Twitter @EllisCan2.

Daily Musings
- Breakfast time:
- Framber Valdez cranks up about 10 light, fluffy biscuits (7 IP, 1 ER), while Cody Bellinger (first HR, six RBI) makes a grand white gravy.
- Paul Goldschmidt (seven) cracks an over-easy egg from 422 ft.
- Shane McClanahan (3.1 IP, 4 ER, 6 K) & Alek Manoah (3.1 IP, 4 ER, 5 K) got a little too toasted. Thankfully, Sean Manaea (9 IP, 0 ER, 8 K) put a little boysenberry jam on it to make it all better. Gio Urshela (six) even provides a little apple butter.
- Randal Grichuk (11) provides a couple of slices of bacon. If you like it crispy, David Peterson (0.1 IP, 5 ER) is here to abide. If burnt is your flavor, Carlos Martinez (0.2 IP, 10 ER) makes it your way.
- Jordan Montgomery (6.1 IP, 1 ER, 6 K) stirs up the grits. Ketel Marte drops some butter in (second HR in four games). Juan Soto (six) provides a 437-ft kick of black pepper. WOAH, Dansby Swanson, get that sugar (ninth HR) away from our grits.
- Other munchies:
- Adbert Alzolay works a slider, sinker, and four-seamer, dropping the curveball from 2020. Result: 5 IP, 1 ER, 7 K. 22.1% K-BB.
- Dinelson Lamet building up. 4 IP, 1 ER, 6 K.
- 45% Chase, 20% SwingStrike rates?! Who cares. Javier Baez w/14th moonshot. 70 R+RBI.
- Manny Machado has hit HR before; he'll hit them again.
- Starling Marte (third HR) has a hit in every game but four.
- Go DJ, That's my DJ. Stewart with sixth rave concert.
- Mitch Garver heated up. I grabbed Garver. Garver has surgery. Now Ryan Jeffers applies 441-ft of icy hot to my FAB options.
- Dylan Carlson is back in the long-distance hauling business (three HR in four games).
- Trea Turner can't help his sticky fingers (13th SB).
- It's been six games w/o a HR, do you know where Adolis Garcia is? Probably off stealing stuff (seven).
- If it wasn't for a .410 xwOBA, I'd be worried about Freddie Freeman (.232 AVG). Hahahaha.
- No, Ryan Mountcastle is NOT J. Baez. Yes, the 44% Chase & 20% SwingStrike look similar. Not the same.
- It's like a shooting star, Matt Olson goes three-for-four.
- Walker Buehler cruises w/ 14 runs of support. 6 IP, 3 ER, 8 K.
- Chris Flexen gets roughed up (6 IP, 5 ER, 3 K), but gets DET next.
- Third game back, Victor Robles does a Usain Bolt impression (fifth SB). Still no power.
Endgame
- Aroldis Chapman (12)
- Brad Hand (nine)
- Ryan Pressly (eight)
- Daniel Bard (six)
- Edwin Diaz (10)
Closing Thoughts
- Set the example. Cliche. Is that why you're not doing it? Be better. Don't be a glory-hound. Don't do things for awards or even recognition. Be the mold others strive to be. Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.
- Have a great Thursday.
