Welcome to the August 12th edition of Daily Slivers of the Fantasy Soapbox.
Discussing baseball is as fun as the game itself. It has a way of bringing people together to share different opinions about the sport we all love. A similar action can be done with fantasy baseball where we not only discuss topics but also look to improve our teams as well as the teams of our fellow fantasy baseball enthusiasts. Everyone has their own perspectives which are not to be cast off as frivolous. They should be used as a method of expanding our own knowledge.
In this article, I review the previous day's box scores and provide my opinion on a variety of topics. Some will be random, some will be fun, and some will be stat-driven. It's a soapbox so I may rant from time to time as well. So without any further delay, below are my thoughts on the August 11th games. Enjoy them. You can even respond with your own thoughts on Twitter @EllisCan2.

Daily Musings
- Ozzie Albies is sure to miss you on two occasions. That's Day & Night. Oooooh, Combo Meal of Love. 19 HR/14 SB.
- Reynaldo Lopez has been a new guy in 2020 & 2021 (3.15 SIERA). Ummm. Is his FB/Slider starter worthy? 3 IP, 4 K. Next shot vs OAK.
- Jorge Polanco ready to serve his home-famous meatloaf (21).
- Aledmys Diaz lathers you up w/ all kinds of pos. eligibility. Only 15% rostered. How rude! 5 HR, .319 AVG last 30 games.
- How does Framber Valdez have success w/ 4.63 SIERA? Let the batters play Whack-A-Mole (68% GB)
- Even at idle, Whit Merrifield is faster than half the league (33). I'm sorry, "he's too old for this game" is the narrative.
- Hmmm, Tyler Wade has two less HR & two less SB w/ higher AVG than Gleyber Torres...in 300 fewer PA. Let Tyler Wade play!
- Sandy & the Pink Ladies wipe grease all over the Padres. Pink Padres. It has a nice ring. Alcantara w/ 7 IP, 7 K.
- *Tosses digital paper in the air* People don't be listenin'. You missed out on two more Lewis Brinson burners. 5 HR, .353 aVG last 15 games. Hot bat only 14% rostered.
- AJ Pollock, be safe out there on the base paths (seven). You've been **kisses fingers** marvelous.
- Do we really need to come whisper into your ear? "Anthony Santander is good. Pick him up." 4 HR, .328 AVG in the last seven games.
- The Electric Skubal Slide! 6 IP, 6 K. LAA/TOR next
- Ooooh weee. Hey Adam Wainwright, you so fine...you so fine, you blow my mind. Hey Wainwright!. "Gimme a W!" Done.
- 14% of people roster Matt Harvey?! $#!@&%. I can't even get you to push a button on hot bats?!
- I know...you were "this close" to dropping Cody Bellinger. **Four HR later** You're tossing beer all over yourself in the living room. No beer? Oh, you're a Moscato person.
- Brandon Lowe drops another tea bag into the ocean. (26)
- We don't need to watch any other Olympic games. I'd enjoy just watching Starling Marte race against Whit Merrifield.
- Isiah Kiner-Falefa, get the lead out. (Fifth CS)
- Shohei Ohtani finds his 38th easter egg. Leave some for the kids.
- Kevin Gausman brought his Chick-Fila-A ways to the diamond...handing out free mints. 4 BB, 5 K, 5 IP, 1 ER.
- 2020 was the only time Cal Quantrill's SIERA wasn't near 4.60. I recognize Voodoo when I see it.
- There's a reason why Josh Fleming never said the safe word. He likes it this way. Don't judge. 2.1 IP, 10 ER.
- Joey Votto (25), you're not past 50 years of age. There is no Catch Up donations to HR category.
- Christian Yelich smacks another long, long, long.....wait, that was Omar Narvaez (11) who has nearly doubled Yelich's total.
- Corbin Burnes w/ 8 IP, 15 K. You'll see I didn't bat an eye when you mentioned he'd be drafted in the second round of 2022 drafts.
- Your mattress still has Springers in it? Those things will bust out a couple times a night.
- Alek Manoah uses 90% of his time on two pitches. They work. 6.2 IP, 2 ER, 11 K.
Endgame
- Alex Colome (seven) Thank you for the good times.
- Zack Britton (one)
- Edwin Diaz (24)
- Gregory Soto (14)
- Lou Trivino (19)
Closing Thoughts
- Thank you. Thank you for all the support you've given me. Thank you for indulging my morning ramblings & shenanigans. Thank you for the kind words of appreciation and encouragement. I'm glad to hear when people enjoy the good work and even when it helps them. Have a great Thursday.
