Daily Fantasy Baseball Streamers - MLB Hitter, Pitcher Lineup Picks for Friday 5/28

Top daily fantasy baseball streamers and waiver wire adds for 5/28/21. Mike Marteny identifies MLB hitters and starting pitchers to stream based on matchups.

Welcome to another edition of our daily fantasy baseball streamers! Are you playing in leagues with daily moves and looking to beef up those rosters? We here at RotoBaller are there for you and all of your streaming needs. Whether you are just trying to get that elusive category win or you are trying to give your pitching staff a lift because Snellzilla got smoked on Monday, we can help. Each day, RotoBaller will provide you with some of the best streaming options to consider in both shallow and deep fantasy baseball daily leagues. Streaming hitters and pitchers to exploit matchups are important to help you win your league.

It is important to know your league if you're going to stream. I'm not just talking about which teams your leaguemates root for. I'm talking about whether strikeouts count against you for hitters or if fielding stats are included. Most importantly, you need to know how many transactions you have per week. You don't want to blow your allotment within a couple of days. You can also use these recommendations to help build your DFS lineups. This article will use rostered percentages and position eligibility from ESPN leagues.

Only 11 of the pitchers are owned in more than half of leagues today. There are more fish in our pond today, but does that mean that any of them are worth keeping? Let's see what we can pull out of here. Be aware that only six of the 14 scheduled games have no rain in the forecast. This is going to be a messy slate.

Be sure to check all of our fantasy baseball lineup tools and resources:

Hitter Streamers for 5/28 - Shallow Leagues

Avisail Garcia (OF, RHB, MIL) - 45.8% Rostered

Matchup: at WAS LHP Jon Lester

Christian Yelich is back and Avi is still batting cleanup for the Brewers. That has to count for something. Garcia has slipped back into a platoon of sorts of late, but he still has two homers in his last four games. Against a guy like Lester who has allowed 11 runs - including four homers - in his last two starts, this is where you want to run Avi. It's worth the chance that he might nick your average. It's far more likely he gets something against Lester.

Andrew Vaughn (1B/OF, RHB, CWS) - 42.8% Rostered

Matchup: vs. BAL RHP Matt Harvey

We knew this day was coming. We just didn't know when. The wheels have officially come off for Harvey now as he has given up 19 runs (18 earned) in just 10.2 innings over his last three starts. Vaughn still isn't hitting for a high average, and he may never, but that power is legit. He has two homers in the last week. If this game is played, he has a great chance to get some counting stats against the reeling Harvey.

Jurickson Profar (2B/OF, SHB, SD) - 39.7% Rostered

Matchup: at HOU LHP Framber Valdez

The Rangers once thought enough of Profar to trade away Ian Kinsler. He hasn't lived up to those lofty prospect expectations, but that doesn't mean that Profar isn't still a good Major League player. After a slow start in San Diego, Profar is hitting .381 with eight runs, three RBI, and two steals in the last week. The stolen bases are a nice touch and are a category often ignored by the streaming community. Go grab Profar against a guy making his first start of the year in a solid hitter's park. There's nice potential here.

Garrett Cooper (1B/OF, RHB, MIA) - 28.3% Rostered

Matchup: at BOS LHP Martin Perez

The outfield for the Fish is about to get crowded next week with the likely return of Starling Marte (rib). Cooper is doing his best to either make sure he remains in it or to hope some kind contending soul notices his work and trades for him. Cooper is 11-20 over the last week with three homers, six runs scored, and eight RBI. Cooper averages a homer every 18 at-bats against lefties. Assuming he gets three at-bats against Perez, we have roughly a 16% chance that he hits a homer tonight. I like those odds on waivers.

Hitter Streamers for 5/28 - Deep Leagues

Tyler O'Neill (OF, RHB, STL) - 19.1% Rostered

Matchup: at ARI LHP Madison Bumgarner

I could tell you that O'Neill struck out three times in his return from the IL last night, but I'm not about that negativity. I'll instead focus on the home run that he hit. O'Neill has good power in a great hitter's park against a lefty who will never regain his lethal former pitches. Sure, MadBum may have a good game, but I'm expecting at least one ball to find the bleachers in Chase Field tonight. O'Neill is as good a bet as any.

Justin Upton (OF, RHB, LAA) - 18.9% Rostered

Matchup: at OAK LHP Sean Manaea

The Angels are so desperate for a spark that they have used Upton as their leadoff hitter over the last few games. Upton has responded with a modest four-game hitting streak in which he is 6-for-18 with four runs scored, two homers, and four RBI. The Angels' offense is an unpolished turd with Mike Trout (calf) out, but this kind of performance by Upton is worth watching, especially with a lefty on the mound facing him.

Willy Adames (SS, RHB, MIL) - 8.7% Rostered

Matchup: at WAS LHP Jon Lester

Those of you watching advanced metrics and Statcast should feel the vindication of Adames' heater since being traded to the Brewers. Those watching his recent barrel percentage, launch angle, and exit velocity predicted Adames would get going soon. He is 7-for-20 with four runs, a homer, and six RBI since joining the Brewers and is showing no signs of slowing down. Considering the recent struggles of Lester, I'm going to be very heavy on Willy tonight across my leagues. He's out there in most of them.

Seth Brown (1B/OF, LHB, OAK) - 6.3% Rostered

Matchup: vs. LAA RHP Shohei Ohtani

Ohtani was scratched last night because he was stuck in traffic and couldn't do his normal pitching work before a start. Who does he think he is, Pascual Perez? Brown got the late scratch last night after Patrick Sandoval took over, but he will be in there against Ohtani provided someone gets him to the game on time. Brown continues to smoke righties, hitting .357 with three runs, two homers, and seven RBI in just 14 at bats over the last week. Throw him in there!

Pitcher Streamers for 5/28 - Shallow Leagues

Jon Gray (RHP, COL) - 48.6% rostered

Matchup: at Pittsburgh

I am well aware of Gray's whacked-out home/road splits in his career. I am also well aware that they are even worse this year. Gray has a 2.36 ERA this year in Coors Field of all places. On the road, it's a ghastly 6.32. However, statistics mean precisely dick when we are talking about the 2021 disaster that is the Pittsburgh Pirates. As if Javier Baez making fools of them on National television isn't bad enough, the Pirates have scored just 61 runs in 23 games this month. That's less than three runs per game for an entire month! Gray has good strikeout potential against an offense that couldn't hit the Unisphere with a Redwood tree right now.

Adbert Alzolay (RHP, CHC) - 22.4% rostered

Matchup: vs. Cincinnati

Alzolay still hasn't given up more than three runs in a start since his first start of the year on April 6. He went a season-high seven innings against the Cardinals last weekend, giving up two runs on just five hits while striking out six. For the third straight start, Alzolay didn't walk a batter. The 0.86 WHIP is pristine, so he will definitely help in ratios. The 45 strikeouts in 44 innings is solid too. The knock on Adbert is that he is prone to homers. He has given up seven in his last five starts, including five in the last three. Don't worry too much about it. Plenty of good pitchers give up homers. As long as the WHIP stays low, Alzolay is a fine play.

Pitcher Streamer for 5/28 - Deep Leagues

Kris Bubic (LHP, KC) - 16.2% Rostered

Matchup: at Minnesota

I  don't go out of my way to use pitchers against the Twins, but I'll make an exception with Bubic. The Twins' offense has shown improvement of late, but they are coming off series against Baltimore and Cleveland. That was bound to happen. Bubic comes in boasting a 1.52 ERA on the season. In fact, he has only given up two runs in 21.2 innings as a starter this season. The WHIP is solid, the ERA is impressive, but the offense behind him wont score many runs and his strikeout totals aren't all that great. Still, if you're dumpster diving in a deep league, Bubic has to feel like you found an intact buffalo wing in the dumpster.
