Matthew Wright Doesn't Attempt A Field Goal In Week 13
3 years agoJacksonville Jaguars kicker Matthew Wright converted his only extra-point try and didn't attempt a field goal in a Week 13 loss to the Rams. Wright has been steady all year long when given the opportunity to kick, but those opportunities have been few and far between due to Jacksonville's immense offensive struggles. Until the Jaguars offense starts moving the ball at a respectable rate, Wright shouldn't be a fantasy consideration.

Matthew Wright A Deep Streamer In Week 18
3 months agoTennessee Titans kicker Matthew Wright is not a household name in fantasy football, but he should generate some buzz on the waiver wire in deep leagues. Wright is replacing Nick Folk (abdomen) for the second week in a row, and as he takes on the Houston Texans this Sunday, he'll look to build on last week's solid stat line that included one extra point and a 2-for-2 success rate on field goals. The 28-year-old kicker has been dependable in stints with the San Francisco 49ers and Kansas City Chiefs this year, helping him rank as a top-18 fantasy kicker for the final week of the regular season. Wright warrants consideration among fantasy managers seeking a last-minute fill-in.

Matthew Wright To Kick For Titans In Week 17
3 months agoThe Tennessee Titans will add kicker Matthew Wright from their practice squad to their active 53-man roster for Sunday's game against the division-rival Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 17. Regular placekicker Nick Folk (abdomen) has been ruled out yet again, so the Titans will go with Wright after cutting Brayden Narveson earlier this week. While Wright, 28, will have a good matchup against the terrible Jaguars defense in his debut with the Titans, he still won't be a particularly intriguing streaming option for fantasy managers that are playing for championships this weekend. In three games with the San Francisco 49ers and Kansas City Chiefs in 2024, Wright has missed only one of his 12 field-goal attempts while making all five of his extra-point opportunities. Fantasy managers should be able to start more reliable kicking options in Week 17.

Titans Add Matthew Wright To Practice Squad
3 months agoThe Tennessee Titans signed free-agent kicker Matthew Wright to their practice squad on Thursday. Nick Folk (abdomen) has not practiced this week and is danger of missing another game in Week 17 when the team takes on the division-rival Jacksonville Jaguars. Brayden Narveson filled in at kicker in the Week 16 loss to the Indianapolis Colts and missed his only field-goal attempt, which prompted the team to waive him this week. So if Folk is ruled out on Friday, the 28-year-old Wright will be added to the 53-man roster by Saturday to serve as the kicker on Sunday. Wright has appeared in three games in 2024 with the San Francisco 49ers and Kansas City Chiefs and has gone 11-for-12 on field goals and 5-for-5 on extra points. He's been solid in a small sample size but should be ignored in fantasy lineups in Week 17 if Folk is ruled out for Tennessee.

Chiefs Releasing Matthew Wright, Harrison Butker Expected To Return
4 months agoThe Kansas City Chiefs are releasing kicker Matthew Wright on Saturday, according to a source. It means that Harrison Butker (knee) is expected to be activated from Injured Reserve to make his return in Week 15 against the Cleveland Browns. Even though Wright was the NFL Special Teams Player of the Week in Week 14 -- the 28-year-old made eight of his nine field goals in his two games with KC -- he will now be back on the open market with four games to go in the regular season. Butker was listed as questionable for this Sunday's game against the Browns, but it's looking like he'll be active as KC's placekicker. Fantasy managers that haven't been happy with their kicking position should take a look at adding Butker if he's available on the waiver wire, even though he'll be a bit more risky in his first game back since Week 10.
