San Francisco Giants starting pitcher Kevin Gausman turned in his second straight subpar start in Tuesday's 6-5 win over the Padres. Gausman pitched just 4 innings, allowing four runs on nine hits (including three home runs) and no walks with three strikeouts. Gausman's last two starts have both been against the Padres and he has allowed four runs in each. He is still 14-6 with a 2.92 ERA and 1.06 WHIP on the season, but season-long numbers won't help fantasy managers lock up a championship now. His next start will be on the road against the Rockies. This is a tough venue for Gausman to attempt to right the ship and fantasy managers could consider sitting him, but he has pitched so well all season that starting him would also be a viable option.--Connelly Doan - RotoBaller

Toronto Blue Jays starting pitcher Kevin Gausman continued his strong start to the season in Tuesday's 6-3 win over the Braves. Gausman pitched six innings, allowing two runs on six hits (including two solo home runs) and no walks with six strikeouts. The 34-year-old has looked great after a relatively disappointing 2024, going 2-1 with three quality starts, a 2.49 ERA, a 0.71 WHIP, and a 7.11 K/9 rate in four starts and 25 1/3 IP. The strikeout numbers are still down, but fantasy managers will likely take that tradeoff for the stellar ERA and WHIP. Gausman will face a decent matchup in his next scheduled start, which will be at the Astros.--Connelly Doan - RotoBaller

Toronto Blue Jays right-hander Kevin Gausman deserved more than a no-decision in Wednesday's 2-1 extra-innings win over the division-rival Boston Red Sox at Fenway Park. Gausman was fantastic, allowing just an unearned run on four hits while walking none and striking out 10 in eight innings pitched to lower his ERA on the young season to 2.33. After allowing an unearned run in the first inning on a sacrifice fly, the 34-year-old veteran retired 21 of the final 23 hitters he faced in a dominant performance in his third start of the 2025 season. Gausman now has quality starts in two of his first three outings of the year after coming into Wednesday's start having allowed five earned runs on five hits while walking three and striking out only four in his first 11 1/3 frames. This was vintage Gausman, and fantasy managers will hope he can repeat it in his next scheduled outing against the struggling Braves.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller

Toronto Blue Jays starting pitcher Kevin Gausman logged six innings and allowed two earned runs and three hits en route to earning the victory over the Baltimore Orioles on Friday evening. He struck out four and served up one free pass. He did not allow a baserunner in the first two innings. His first blemish came in the third, when Jackson Holliday hit a solo shot. Later in the fourth, Gausman would run into some more trouble as he served up a leadoff walk to Adley Rutschman, who would eventually score on a Tyler O'Neill sacrifice fly. Over his final two innings, he would only allow one hit to conclude his outing. This was a strong start for Gausman as he struggled to find consistency throughout the 2024 season, as he posted a modest 3.85 ERA and a 1.22 WHIP. He will look to have another quality start on Wednesday when he faces the Nationals.--Andy Smith - RotoBaller

Toronto Blue Jays right-hander Kevin Gausman threw a live batting practice session on Sunday in camp and will have one more "and then get into games," according to manager John Schneider. Gausman isn't dealing with a specific injury, but he's a little bit behind the other starting pitchers in spring training. However, the 34-year-old should be fully stretched out for Opening Day at the end of March. He notably bulked up in the offseason in order to help him navigate the rigors of a full season in 2025 after he saw his strikeout rate fall to 21.4 percent in 2024. In addition to that, Gausman also had a 7.4 percent walk rate, which was his highest mark since 2017. He made 31 starts last year but also had a shoulder injury last spring, which might have been the culprit for his velocity being down. At his age, it's fair to wonder if he'll be able to get his strikeout rate back up in 2025.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
