Washington Nationals starting pitcher Erick Fedde allowed four runs (two earned) in five innings against the Miami Marlins Monday, taking a no-decision in an eventual 8-7 extra-inning loss. He gave up four hits, including three home runs, and no walks while striking out five batters. Fedde has not had a calendar month with an ERA under five since June, and with a 5.10 ERA and 1.39 WHIP for the season, he simply isn't a factor in the fantasy conversation.--Doug Goldring

St. Louis Cardinals right-handed pitcher Erick Fedde is drawing interest on the trade market. According to Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Dispatch, several teams believe the Cardinals are actively trying to find a trade partner for the 31-year-old. Throughout the offseason, the Cardinals have attempted to shed payroll. They decided to let Paul Goldschmidt test the open market and have had several discussions with teams about moving third baseman Nolan Arenado. Fedde will likely be moved sometime this season as he is set to enter free agency after the 2025 campaign. Last season, the right-hander posted a 3.30 ERA and a 1.16 WHIP across 177 1/3 innings. He tallied 154 punchouts and allowed walks at a strong 7.2 percent rate. He is currently penciled to be the No. 2 option in the St. Louis starting rotation behind Sonny Gray.--Andy Smith - RotoBaller

According to Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democrat, the St. Louis Cardinals are not expected to trade starting pitcher Erick Fedde before spring training. President of Baseball Operations, John Mozeliak, noted that while the team would like to continue increasing their financial flexibility, with spring training around the corner, the team would rather hold on to Fedde instead. However, trade talks will likely resume if the Cardinals fall out of playoff contention early in the summer. The 31-year-old opened the 2024 season with the Chicago White Sox before being shipped to St. Louis before the trade deadline. Across 177 1/3 innings, the right-hander posted a 3.30 ERA and a 1.16 WHIP. He struck out 154 batters with a 7.2% walk rate. Fantasy managers should expect Fedde to open the season as the No.2 option in the St. Louis rotation.--Andy Smith - RotoBaller

According to Mark Feinsand, Bryan Hoch, and John Denton of MLB.com, St. Louis Cardinals starting pitchers Erick Fedde and Steven Matz are gaining interest on the trade market from several clubs such as the Detroit Tigers and Cleveland Guardians. With the Cardinals looking to reshape their roster and shed payroll, moving these options could allow their younger starting pitchers to have more opportunities during the 2025 season. Fedde opened the 2024 season in Chicago but was dealt to the Cardinals at the trade deadline. Across 177 1/3 frames, the 31-year-old posted a 3.30 ERA and a 1.16 WHIP. Matz has battled injuries over the past two seasons and pitched only 44 1/3 frames last summer and posted a 5.08 ERA and a 1.44 WHIP. If the Cardinals were to move one of these arms, this could create a path for their top pitching prospects, Tink Hence and Quinn Mathews, to spend most of the 2025 summer in the big leagues.--Andy Smith - RotoBaller

St. Louis Cardinals starting pitcher Erick Fedde capped off his comeback season in dominant fashion in Wednesday's 5-2 victory over the Rockies, scattering six hits and one walk across seven innings while striking out 10 batters on the way to earning his ninth win of the 2024 campaign. With the Cardinals eliminated from playoff contention, Fedde finishes the season with a 9-9 record between Chicago and St. Louis, posting career-bests in ERA (3.38; 4.29 SIERA), WHIP (1.17), opponent batting average (.229), and total strikeouts (144). Fedde spent 2023 in the KBO with positive results, parlaying that success into a strong 2024 MLB season. The 31-year-old will look to keep rolling next season and should begin the year with a much more formidable offense behind him than he did when he began 2024 with the White Sox.--Jarod Rupp - RotoBaller
