Javonte Williams Splits Carries Evenly With Melvin Gordon
3 years agoDenver Broncos rookie running back Javonte Williams saw exactly as many carries (13) as backfield mate Melvin Gordon III in the Week 2 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars, but he was more productive with those carries. Williams rushed for 64 yards (33 yards more than Gordon), 4.9 yards per attempt and also caught his lone target for a 10-yard gain. The Broncos have effectively split this backfield straight down the middle through the first two weeks, but the 21-year-old rookie has been more efficient and productive with his carries compared to Gordon, although Gordon has the lone rushing score so far. As long as the two continue to share touches like this, it'll be tough to predict which back will have the better week, but Williams has more upside and big-play ability over the rest of the season.
