Marshon Lattimore Week-To-Week After Thumb Surgery
3 years agoNew Orleans Saints cornerback Marshon Lattimore (thumb) is set to have surgery to repair a chipped bone in his thumb Tuesday. Lattimore sustained the injury during the first half of Sunday's win over Green Bay and exited the game before returning, though the Saints pulled him again with a large lead late in the contest. The 25-year-old is considered week-to-week, though he could miss anywhere from three-to-six weeks with the ailment. A Pro Bowler in each of the last two seasons, Lattimore and the Saints agreed to a five-year, $97.6 million extension, which makes him the second-highest paid corner in the league. Lattimore often shadows the opponent's top receiver, as he did in Week 1 against Green Bay's Davante Adams, so the Saints' defense will certainly miss him going forward. Newly acquired corner Bradley Roby should see significant playing time moving forward, as should Desmond Trufant and rookie Paulson Adebo. The Panthers' wide receivers could have a better outlook in Week 2 with Lattimore sidelined.
