3 years agoSt. Louis Cardinals starting pitcher Jack Flaherty (shoulder) is scheduled to throw a bullpen session on Thursday. The result of the session will help determine his timeline for a return. The right-hander has been out since August 24 due to a right shoulder strain. Cardinals manager Mike Shildt told the media on Monday that he is "cautiously optimistic" that Flaherty will return to the team this year. Shildt explained that he wasn't sure what role Flaherty would have when he returned, but added, "I think there's enough schedule left for him to do something for us to help us." Flaherty may not be able to do much (or anything) to help fantasy managers the rest of the way this year, but he's worthy of an IL stash if you have the space for him just in case.--Andrew Ericksen - RotoBaller
