Alex Reyes Pitches In The Sixth Inning On Tuesday
3 years agoSt. Louis Cardinals relief pitcher Alex Reyes, formerly the team's closer, pitched in the sixth inning of a 4-2 deficit on Tuesday. Reyes started the season as the closer and locked down the ninth for the first few months of the season, but struggled mightily in August and was removed from the closer's role. Giovanny Gallegos has been closing for the Cardinals since Reyes was removed from the role, but the team has said they'd like Reyes to have a chance to work back into the ninth. On Tuesday, he pitched one inning, allowing a solo home run but striking out two. With the Cardinals holding on to the outskirts of the Wild Card race, it's unlikely Reyes makes it back into the ninth as long as other relievers are pitching well.
