Zac Gallen Continuing To Struggle In August
3 years agoArizona Diamondbacks starting pitcher Zac Gallen has had a year to forget in 2021. He started off the season pitching relatively well, but things have gotten progressively worse for him each month. Through three starts in August, he's posted a 6.48 ERA, giving up 19 hits and seven walks over 16.2 innings. The 26-year-old has a 5.03 ERA and a 1.40 WHIP on the year. He has a decent 26.7% strikeout rate, but he's struggled with walks (10.4% walk rate) and he's given up a lot of hard contact (42% hard-hit rate). His 3.98 xERA suggests he's been unlucky so far, but he's still too tough to trust as a fantasy starter for now. He'll make his next start against the Colorado Rockies on Saturday.
