Luis Gil Sent Back To Triple-A
3 years agoThe New York Yankees optioned starting pitcher Luis Gil back to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Tuesday night. Gil served as the team's 27th man in Tuesday's doubleheader against the Boston Red Sox. He started the second game of the two-game set and pitched 4 2/3 innings, allowing three hits, four walks and no runs while striking out four. Gil has made three starts for the Yankees this month, the first three starts of his MLB career, and he has been really impressive. He's pitched 15.2 innings and has yet to allow a run while recording 18 strikeouts and maintaining a 1.02 WHIP. There's a good chance he'll find his way back to the Yankees rotation soon, but since that return is far from imminent, he can be dropped in most standard fantasy leagues.
