Colorado Rockies @ Houston Astros
O/U: 9 | Moneyline: HOU -260
COL: Antonio Senzatela | HOU: Framber Valdez
The Rockies and Astros start the second game of their series this afternoon. The Astros won game one last night pretty handily, shutting out the Rockies. This moved the Rockies road record to 13-41, the worst in all of baseball. Today the Rockies send Antonio Senzatela to the mound, who hasn't been good away from Coors this season, with a 6.03 ERA on the road.
Framber Valdez takes the ball for Houston. He comes in with a 3.90 xFIP on the season. He's regressed a bit since but shouldn't have too much of a problem shutting down the Rockies today. The Astros lineup is clearly the superior of the two, and I expect them to get the job done, and will score in bunches. There's too much juice on the moneyline so we'll take the run line at a favorable price.
Pick: Astros -1.5 (-126) FanDuel Sportsbook
Miami Marlins @ San Diego Padres
O/U: 8.5 | Moneyline: SD -166
MIA: Sandy Alcantara | SD: Ryan Weathers
The Marlins put up a good fight last night, but the Padres were able to hold on and come away with the victory. The Padres are in no position to let up, either, as the Dodgers are beginning to heat up and the Wild Card race is getting tighter and tighter each day. Today the Friars will send Ryan Weathers to the mound, who had a strong start to the campaign but hasn't been so good of late. Fortunately for Weathers and the Padres, the Marlins have struggled against southpaws this season, with just a team wOBA + ISO of .343.
The Marlins send Sandy Alcantara to the hill today. Sandy is a very solid pitcher, but he has struggled of late, bringing in a 7.02 ERA in his past three starts and a 4.83 xFIP over the last 30 days. The Padres are 40-23 at home while the Marlins are just 20-40 on the road. The Marlins have lost five straight, and are 0-4 in their last four when they allow 5 or more runs in their previous game. Meanwhile, the Padres have won four straight. They've also won four straight when they score five or more runs in their previous game. Back the Padres at a generous price.
Picks: Padres Moneyline (-166), FanDuel Sportsbook
