Joe Musgrove's Victory Spoiled By Bullpen

San Diego Padres starter Joe Musgrove tossed six frames of one-run baseball Wednesday against the Oakland Athletics, settling for a no-decision. The right-hander struck out five in a crisp 99 pitches, yielding two hits and three walks. Musgrove's only mistake was a solo shot to infielder Jed Lowrie in the second inning, leaving with a 3-1 lead before the bullpen squandered his victory. Through 21 starts (122 ⅓ innings), the 28-year-old's breakout campaign runs to the tune of a 2.87 ERA, 0.97 WHIP and 28 percent strikeout rate. Currently pitching like the Friars ace, Musgrove will take on the Miami Marlins at home next Tuesday. He'll be a solid SP2 in that matchup.
