Charlie Barnes Yields Five Earned Runs in Loss
3 years agoMinnesota Twins starting pitcher Charlie Barnes took the loss in Wednesday's game against the Reds. Barnes struggled, surrendering five earned runs on seven hits in just four innings of work. The lefty only struck out two and walked a pair, generating just four whiffs on the day. Barnes had trouble locating his pitches, particularly his changeup, which was hit for an average exit velocity of 96.6 MPH and was a pitch the Reds jumped on for three of their five runs. Barnes was solid in his first outing for Minnesota but this was a notable step back. He's off the fantasy radar but it will be interesting to see if the rebuilding Twins stick with him or call up another one of their pitching prospects.
