Michael Fulmer Closes Out Thursday's Victory
3 years agoDetroit Tigers relief pitcher Michael Fulmer was called upon to close out the team's 6-2 victory over the Baltimore Orioles on Thursday. He pitched a perfect ninth inning, striking out the side while allowing no walks or hits. Fulmer returned from the injured list earlier this week and has made two appearances since then, allowing no runs on either occasion. Gregory Soto has been the team's primary closer since Fulmer landed on the injured list in late June, but the situation may get a bit more complicated now. We could see Soto and Fulmer splitting save opportunities going forward. Fantasy managers desperate for help in saves can consider taking a flyer on Fulmer, who has converted 6-of-8 saves this year while pitching to a 3.86 ERA and 1.26 WHIP.
