Cincinnati Reds right-hander Jeff Hoffman allowed five runs over four innings in a 7-0 loss to the New York Mets on Wednesday. Hoffman struck out none and walked three while serving up three homers in the afternoon outing. The veteran right-hander was making his first start in almost two months after spending a stint on the injured list with a right shoulder injury. Hoffman now has a 3-5 record, 5.20 ERA, 1.67 WHIP, and 39 strikeouts over 45 innings of work. He can be safely ignored in most fantasy leagues, outside of using as a streamer in deep, NL-only formats.--Matt T - RotoBaller

Toronto Blue Jays relief pitcher Jeff Hoffman entered the game in a 6-6 tie in the ninth inning. He worked a scoreless ninth inning and earned himself another trip out to the mound in the bottom of the 10th. Hoffman had little issues in this one as he stranded the ghost runner and earned himself the victory. The Baltimore Orioles only managed one hit off Hoffman as he struck out four batters over his two innings of work. Hoffman is looking legit early in the season and clearly isn't afraid of pitching multiple innings. The right-hander is a must-have fantasy option going forward.--Andy Webb - RotoBaller

Toronto Blue Jays relief pitcher Jeff Hoffman gave up a run to the Nationals on Wednesday afternoon, but he still closed Toronto's 4-2 victory with his third save of the season. The 32-year-old righty entered the game in the ninth with a 4-1 lead and got the first two outs in quick succession before running into a little bit of trouble. He gave up a single, a double, and another single before his catcher Tyler Heineman threw out pinch-runner Jacob Young trying to steal second base to end the game. It was the first run allowed by Hoffman in his four games this season, and he is a perfect 3-for-3 in save opportunities. He will remain the team's primary closer as they head on a 10-game road trip to New York, Boston, and Baltimore starting on Friday.--Zach Thompson - RotoBaller

Toronto Blue Jays right-hander Jeff Hoffman (shoulder) failed two physicals due to concerns with his right shoulder with the Atlanta Braves and Baltimore Orioles this offseason before eventually signing with the Toronto Blue Jays, according to a source. Both the Braves and Orioles had deals in place with Hoffman before he failed physicals with their medical staffs, with the O's having a three-year, $40 million deal set with Hoffman. The 32-year-old has been healthy since 2021, but he has gone on the injured list twice in his career with shoulder-related issues. Despite the physical concerns, the Blue Jays signed him to a three-year, $33 million deal, which means he's expected to serve as their closer in 2025, with Yimi Garcia and Chad Green serving as setup men. Given the concerns about his shoulder and the fact Hoffman only has 12 career saves in nine seasons, he'll be a shaky closing option for fantasy managers.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller

According to Robert Murray of FanSided.com, the Toronto Blue Jays have signed right-handed pitcher Jeff Hoffman to a three-year contract worth $33 million. Hoffman enjoyed a strong campaign in Philadelphia last summer as he posted a 2.17 ERA and a 0.96 WHIP across 66 1/3 innings of work. He tallied ten saves and 21 holds while being deployed as a high-leverage option out of the bullpen. Under the hood, the East Carolina product generated a 2.87 xERA and a .202 xBA which were both within the 90th percentile. In addition, Hoffman's 33.6% K rate and 35.3% whiff rate were significantly above the average marks. Earlier this offseason, the Athletic reported that several clubs viewed Hoffman as a potential starter. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his status during spring training. If he were to continue to operate as a reliever, he would compete for save opportunities with Chad Green.--Andy Smith - RotoBaller
