Evan Longoria Taking Dry Swings, Playing Catch
3 years agoSan Francisco Giants skipper Gabe Kapler said that third baseman Evan Longoria (shoulder) is taking dry swings and playing catch. Kapler isn't ruling out a July return for Longoria, who is trying to return from a left shoulder sprain. Longoria has been out since June 5 and was given a six- to eight-week recovery timetable initially. The 35-year-old has really impressed so far this year, as he was hitting a robust .280/.376/.516 with nine home runs, 28 runs scored and 30 RBI in his 186 plate appearances before the injury. While regression could be coming in the second half, Longoria is worth holding onto in most formats in case he picks up where he left off. Wilmer Flores has been a respectable replacement, too, slashing .265/.332/.444 with eight home runs of his own and 27 RBI in 189 at-bats in 2021.
