Stephen Strasburg Throws Bullpen Session
4 years agoWashington Nationals starting pitcher Stephen Strasburg (neck) threw a 25-pitch bullpen session on Sunday. Strasburg has been out since June 2 with a neck strain, and the Nats have been very cautious with the right-hander, who has made only five starts on the season. With the Nationals slow-playing the 32-year-old right-hander's recovery, Strasburg will not be back before the All-Star break at this point. Washington could use another starter with Erick Fedde now on the injured list, but they aren't going to rush Stras. In his five starts in 2021, Strasburg has a 4.57 ERA, 1.38 WHIP and 21/14 K/BB over 21 2/3 innings pitched. His career-high 5.8 BB/9 and 5.69 FIP are definitely concerning, but if you've held onto him for this long, you should continue stashing him and hope that he can turn things around in the second half when he returns.
