Taijuan Walker With Another Solid Start On Friday
New York Mets starting pitcher Taijuan Walker continued his excellent season in his first year with the Mets in the first game of a doubleheader on Friday against the Philadelphia Phillies. Walker picked up a no-decision, but he struck out five and walked only one while allowing just one earned run in his five innings of work. With the effort, the right-hander lowered his ERA to 2.38 while striking out 82 and walking 25 in his 14 starts over 79 1/3 innings pitched. Walker has a tough matchup in his next scheduled start against the division-rival Atlanta Braves next Wednesday, but he's earned must-start status with his performance so far in the first half.
