Rays Won't Force A Vidal Brujan Call-Up
4 years agoTampa Bay Rays second baseman Vidal Brujan, the team's No. 2 prospect behind Wander Franco, may not be joining Franco in the big leagues anytime soon. Brujan has bounced around the infield and outfield at Triple-A Durham, and he still has room to improve in the outfield. He was off to a hot start at the plate, but he hit just .140/.254/.220 in a 14-game stretch from May 30 to June 18, so the organization wants to see how he handles that. Tampa won't hesitate to call up their prospects if they feel they're ready, but they also won't bump current players off their big league roster just to call up Brujan or fellow prospect Josh Lowe. The 23-year-old Brujan remains worth stashing in AL-only and deep mixed leagues, and he's obviously a must-own in dynasty formats, but don't expect to see him anytime soon.
