4 years agoKansas City Royals left-hander Danny Duffy (forearm) will be activated from the injured list on Wednesday in order to make the start against the New York Yankees. Duffy has been sidelined since May 12 with a left forearm flexor strain, so even though he's sporting an excellent 1.94 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 48 strikeouts in 41 2/3 innings over seven innings, he'll be a pretty risky fantasy option in his start against the Bronx Bombers on Wednesday. The 32-year-old southpaw will most likely be on a pitch count in his first start back from the injured list as well. Another reason to be way of starting Duffy in his first start back is the fact that this game is on the road at Yankee Stadium.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller

1 year agoThe Texas Rangers re-signed left-hander Danny Duffy to a minor-league deal with an invitation to major-league spring training on Monday. In addition to Duffy, the Rangers also signed catcher Jose Godoy and left-hander Chasen Shreve. The 35-year-old Duffy didn't appear in the big leagues with the World Series champions in 2023, instead going 2-2 with a 3.28 ERA and 1.63 WHIP with 29 walks and 42 strikeouts in 35 2/3 innings over 28 relief appearances for Double-A Frisco and Triple-A Round Rock after 11 years as a starter for the Kansas City Royals. Injuries have kept him from appearing in the majors since 2021, so he hasn't been anywhere near the fantasy radar.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller

2 years agoThe Texas Rangers signed free-agent outfielder Clint Frazier and left-hander Danny Duffy to minor-league deals on Friday. Once a top prospect for the Cleveland Guardians, Frazier spent the 2022 season with the Chicago Cubs and hit just .216 with a .653 OPS and no home runs in 19 games. Staying healthy has always been a big issue -- he's never played in more than 69 major-league games in a single season -- and he has a career slash line of .238/.329/.427 with a .756 OPS, 29 home runs and 98 RBI in six big-league seasons. Duffy had a left forearm injury that kept him from pitching in 2022. In his 11 major-league seasons with the Kansas City Royals, he has a 3.95 ERA (4.17 FIP), 1.32 WHIP and 21.1 percent strikeout rate in 234 outings (204 starts). Frazier and Duffy will provide some nice veteran depth if they can stay healthy in 2023.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller

3 years agoAccording to Los Angeles Dodgers manager Dave Roberts, left-handed pitcher Danny Duffy (forearm) had a setback while throwing live batting practice sessions recently. Roberts stated that Duffy is "pretty unlikely" to pitch this season as a result of the setback. The 33-year-old was traded to the Dodgers last season but was unable to contribute while rehabilitating a flexor tendon strain. He then went on to have surgery on his flexor tendon this past offseason. He signed a one-year deal with the Dodgers prior to the 2022 campaign, and there's a one-year club option for 2023 attached to the deal as well.--Andrew Ericksen - RotoBaller

3 years agoStarting Pitcher Danny Duffy and the Los Angeles Dodgers have come to terms on a one-year deal, pending a physical, according to Fabian Ardaya. Duffy was acquired by the Dodgers from the Royals last season, but Duffy was never able to suit up for them due to an elbow injury. Duffy posted a 2.51 ERA with 65 strikeouts across 61 innings pitched for the Royals in 2021 and makes for an intriguing late-round selection in 2022.--Kipp Heisterman - RotoBaller
