Gregory Soto Closes Out Wednesday's Win

Detroit Tigers relief pitcher Gregory Soto closed out the team's 6-2 win over the Seattle Mariners on Wednesday. He pitched a perfect ninth inning, allowing no hits or walks while striking out one. Soto was used in a setup role in his previous appearance on Monday, closing out the eighth inning before Michael Fulmer came on to earn the save. On Wednesday, the two swapped roles as Fulmer pitched the eighth inning. Soto has four saves on the year, but only one this month, while Fulmer has recorded all three of his saves this month. Soto might still have the slight upper hand in the closer role, but both pitchers are likely going to be in the mix going forward.
