Asdrubal Cabrera Helped Off Field After Stolen Base
4 years agoArizona Diamondbacks infielder Asdrubal Cabrera suffered an undisclosed lower-body injury while stealing a base on Thursday night in the sixth inning against the Miami Marlins. Cabrera tumbled to the ground after an awkward step and looked to be grabbing his hamstring as the trainer came onto the field. The veteran infielder was walking very gingerly as he left the game, so this could be a serious injury that keeps him out for a while. Stay tuned for more details on Cabrera after the game or Friday morning. The injury comes two days after he went 4-for-5 with a double, home run and three RBI. The 35-year-old had two hits in three plate appearances, including the stolen base, before leaving Thursday. He is hitting a cool .289 on the year with four homers, 18 runs scored and 18 RBI in 135 plate appearances. Cabrera had been filling in at first base for Christian Walker, who recently landed on the injured list. It's unclear who the D-Backs will use at first moving forward, but outfielder Pavin Smith could be an option.
