Matthew Boyd Pitches Six Scoreless Frames On Tuesday
4 years agoDetroit Tigers starting pitcher Matthew Boyd had a strong outing against the Kansas City Royals on Tuesday. Boyd pitched six scoreless innings, allowing four hits and two walks while striking out five. He received a no-decision as the Tigers' bullpen struggled to preserve the lead he gave the team, though the Tigers would eventually come through victorious. Boyd missed his last start due to knee tendinitis, so it was especially encouraging to see him return to form on Tuesday. He has recorded quality starts in five of his past six starts now and he has a 1.94 ERA and 0.94 WHIP on the year. His next start will be on Sunday against the Chicago Cubs.
