Didi Gregorius Could Return Friday
4 years agoPhiladelphia Phillies shortstop Didi Gregorius (elbow) hasn't played since Sunday due to a sore right elbow, but manager Joe Girardi thinks that Gregorius will play on Friday against the Colorado Rockies. If Gregorius returns, Girardi said he will play rookie Nick Maton or Brad Miller at second base, depending on the matchups. Maton recorded three hits on Wednesday, while Miller tied a career-high with four knocks. Hopefully, Gregorius can pick up where he left off, as he's slashing .296/.322/.426 with a 107 OPS+, two home runs, 10 RBI and a stolen base in 15 games to open the 2021 season. Maton and Miller should platoon at the keystone with Gregorius returning, as Jean Segura was placed on the injured list on Wednesday with a strained right quadriceps.
