4 years agoToronto Blue Jays reliever Julian Merryweather (hip) recorded the final out of the eighth inning on Tuesday night during the Jays' 7-3 victory over the New York Yankees but then failed to return for the ninth inning. He was replaced by Tim Mayza. It turns out that Merryweather is dealing with hip irritation, according to manager Charlie Montoyo. The oft-injured reliever was off to a hot start this season and had recorded two saves. The injury could be a bitter pill to swallow for not only fantasy managers but also the Blue Jays club which has been beset by injuries in the early going.
