Tanner Houck Could Make A Start This Weekend
4 years agoBoston Red Sox starting pitcher Tanner Houck was optioned to the team's alternate site in Worcester on Wednesday after Eduardo Rodriguez returned to the team. Now, however, there's a chance that the Red Sox will need to call Houck back up for a start in this weekend's series against the Chicago White Sox. Houck will be eligible to rejoin the Red Sox on Saturday. Red Sox manager Alex Cora stated that the team will probably have to make some roster moves for this weekend, following the scheduling changes in Minnesota. Cora hasn't given any additional context, but Houck would be the most likely option for a spot start if he's needed. Houck started against the Baltimore Orioles during opening weekend and pitched well, going five innings and allowing six hits, one walk and three runs (two earned) while striking out eight.
