The rough downhill slide of Sam Alvey (33-15-1) continued on Saturday, when he suffered a second-round submission defeat to the hands of Julian Marquez. With the loss, Alvey is winless since June of 2018. He has not been able to get his hand raised in his last six bouts. Statistically, it was not a great night for Alvey, as he only totaled 29 significant strikes while absorbing 61 significant strikes. The first round was a battle of strikes, with Alvey delivering a heavy blow near the end of the first round. With almost 50 professional bouts under his belt, it's hard to say how many more times we will see Alvey in a cage, much less the Octagon.--Matt Bricker
