4 years agoFormer New England Patriots backup quarterback Brian Hoyer is scheduled to visit with the New York Jets on Thursday, according to a source. The long-time New England backup could become a mentor to the new rookie quarterback that the Jets will likely select with the No. 2 overall pick in this month's draft. The 35-year-old veteran played his first three seasons with the Patriots before bouncing around the NFL, but he returned to the Patriots in 2017 and 2018 before spending a year in Indianapolis. Last year, Hoyer made one start when Cam Newton was on the COVID-19 list and was benched in favor of Jarrett Stidham in the second half. Hoyer has made just two starts in the NFL in the last three seasons and would strictly be a backup option in New York.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
