Jakob Junis Pitches Five Scoreless Innings Against Indians
4 years agoKansas City Royals pitcher Jakob Junis made his first start of the season on Wednesday against the Cleveland Indians and was impressive. He pitched five innings and allowed just one hit, two walks and no runs while striking out six. Junis made two relief appearances this past weekend and has now pitched seven innings on the year and is yet to allow a run. Over the offseason, Junis developed a new cutter and he's seen great success from it so far this year. He's thrown it 23.9% of the time and it's generated a strong whiff rate of 54.5%. Junis is someone worth targeting on the waiver wire in deep leagues and AL-only leagues. He might not pitch deep into games, but he could be a solid source of strikeouts and he could help in ratios as well. His next start will be on Tuesday against the Los Angeles Angels.
