Matthew Stafford A Long-Term Option For Rams
4 years agoAccording to Los Angeles Rams general manager Les Snead, the team has long-term hopes in mind for quarterback Matthew Stafford, who has two years and $43 million left on his current deal. The Rams acquired the 33-year-old from the Detroit Lions this offseason in exchange for Jared Goff. "I don't think we did it thinking two years," said Snead. "Based on his age, you can legitimately think five to seven, eight years if you look at what Drew (Brees) has done." Snead confirmed that the eventual plan is to give Stafford an extension beyond the two years left on his current deal. The Rams clearly think highly of Stafford, and he'll be in a much better situation in LA than he was in Detroit. Entering the 2021 season, Stafford will be a low-end QB1/high-end QB2 target with upside in his new digs.
