Byron Buxton Not In Monday's Lineup
Byron Buxton (illness) is not in Monday's lineup for the series opener against the Tigers. Buxton was forced to leave Sunday's game early as he came down with a non-COVID-related illness and appears to need a day of recovery before getting back into game action. The 27-year-old will be replaced in center field by Jake Cave, who has a career .800 OPS against right-handed pitching- Tigers' right-hander Jose Urena is on the mound. Brent Rooker will get the start in left field after being recalled from the alternate site.

Byron Buxton Placed on 7-Day Injured List
Byron Buxton (concussion) on the 7-day concussion injured list on Saturday. Earlier this week, Buxton appeared to have cleared concussion protocol, but has apparently faced a setback. Fantasy managers should continue to keep an eye on his status next week, as Buxton may only need the minimum stay on the injured list. Prior to suffering this concussion, Buxton was beginning to find his power swing, as he launched four home runs, a double, and a triple over his last 10 contests. Through 41 games this season, Buxton has posted a solid .261/.312/.522 slash line. Under the hood, he has generated an impressive 16.3% barrel rate and a 55.8% hard-hit rate. While he is sidelined, fantasy managers should expect DaShawn Keirsey Jr. to see time in the starting nine.

Byron Buxton Clears Concussion Protocol, Considered Day-To-Day
Byron Buxton (head) has been cleared from the league's concussion protocol, according to Audra Martin. Buxton was not included in the starting lineup for Friday's series opener against the Milwaukee Brewers, though, and is considered day-to-day. Buxton was able to avoid landing on the seven-day concussion injured list, unlike shortstop Carlos Correa, who he collided with in Thursday's win over the Baltimore Orioles. The oft-injured 31-year-old could be available off the bench on Friday and could be back in the starting lineup as early as Game 2 of the series at American Family Field on Saturday. The former second overall pick in 2012 does lead the big leagues with his 56 strikeouts in 173 plate appearances entering Friday's action, but he's done well considering, batting .261/.312/.522 with 10 homers, 27 RBI and eight steals in 41 games.

Carlos Correa, Byron Buxton Both Out on Friday
Carlos Correa (head) and outfielder Byron Buxton (head) are both out of the lineup for Friday's series opener against the Milwaukee Brewers after they collided chasing a pop-up in Thursday's win over the Baltimore Orioles. Although neither player has been put on the injured list, they are both in the league's concussion protocol, and it's unknown if they'll be available to play all weekend. Brooks Lee is starting at short and batting third, while DaShawn Keirsey Jr. is in center field and hitting eighth against Brewers right-hander Chad Patrick. Fantasy managers should prepare for the potential of both Correa and Buxton landing on the seven-day concussion list if they are unable to return in Milwaukee this weekend. Both Lee and Keirsey will be everyday players for Minnesota until Correa and Buxton are able to return.

Byron Buxton Leaves Game Thursday, In Concussion Protocol
Byron Buxton (head) was forced to leave Thursday's series finale against the Baltimore Orioles at Camden Yards after a scary collision in the third inning with teammate Carlos Correa in shallow center field, according to the Minneapolis Star Tribune's Bobby Nightengale. The good news for Buxton's fantasy managers is that he went 1-for-2 with a solo home run before departing and being placed in MLB's concussion protocol. It's a good bet that the 31-year-old won't play in Friday's series opener against the Milwaukee Brewers, and if he does have a concussion, he'll be placed on the seven-day concussion injured list. DaShawn Keirsey Jr. moved from left field to center field after Buxton's injury. With Harrison Bader (groin) injured on Wednesday, Keirsey could be in line for regular playing time moving forward.
