Adam Plutko Earns Win In Orioles Debut
4 years agoBaltimore Orioles relief pitcher Adam Plutko made his debut for the team on Saturday against the Boston Red Sox. He came in after starting pitcher Matt Harvey and went on to pitch 2 1/3 innings, allowing just one hit and no walks or runs while striking out two. Plutko was traded from the Cleveland Indians to the Orioles for cash about a week ago. The 29-year-old had been an occasional starter for the Indians for the past three years. Last year, over 10 games (including four starts), he posted a 4.88 ERA and 1.337 WHIP while averaging just 4.9 K/9. The Orioles have a shaky, unproven rotation, so Plutko could earn some starts later in the year. For now, he should serve as one of the team's primary long relievers.
