Clayton Kershaw Struggles In Opening Day Start
4 years agoLos Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher Clayton Kershaw had a rough outing at Coors Field in an 8-5 Opening Day loss to the Rockies. Kershaw pitched 5.2 innings, allowing 10 hits, five earned runs, and a walk while fanning just two batters, as he was charged with the loss. The veteran southpaw only missed five bats in 77 pitches, just the eighth time in his career that he's allowed double-digit hits. After a rough spring that saw him pitch to a 10.44 ERA, Kershaw followed it up with a clunker on Opening Day, certainly not an encouraging development. Fortunately, he'll be away from Coors Field for his next start against the Athletics, a good chance for him to clean the slate. He owns a 3.75 ERA with 15 strikeouts to just four walks in three career starts on the road at Oakland.
