Jesus Aguilar Falls A Triple Shy On Sunday
4 years agoMiami Marlins first baseman Jesus Aguilar fell a triple shy of the cycle in Sunday's Grapefruit League game against the New York Mets. Aguilar went 3-for-3 with a double and a home run, driving in two runs and scoring two of his own. This was the final spring training game for the Marlins, so Aguilar wraps things up with a .350 batting average and a .985 OPS. Most impressively, he only struck out once all spring. Unfortunately, he and Garrett Cooper, who finished with an 1.152 OPS, will have to split time at first base because MLB could not figure out how to keep the DH around in the National League. Cooper can also play some corner outfield, but he and Aguilar will spend most of their time splitting first base duties. They are both likely to be strong fantasy contributors, but unfortunately the playing time issue will limit the value of both players.
