Willy Adames Triples In Two-Hit Day Friday
4 years agoTampa Bay Rays shortstop Willy Adames went 2-for-3 with a triple and a run scored in the Rays' 11-7 loss to the Red Sox on Friday. That performance improves his triple-slash line to .348/.444/.522 over 10 games, with two doubles, a triple, two RBI and four runs scored, as he has four walks and nine strikeouts in that span. Adames saw his numbers improve last year across the board, slashing .259/.332/.481 with career-highs in walk rate (9.8%) and wOBA (.347), although he also struck out at a career-high 36.1 percent rate. While there's a lot of buzz around star prospect Wander Franco, Adames is still a solid fantasy shortstop with the potential to hit 20 home runs and steal 10 bases. After increasing his launch angle (12.5 degrees), barrel percentage (9.9%) and hard-hit rate (39.6%) last year — all of which were career-bests — Adames is poised to have a big year at the plate, and he is being significantly undervalued in drafts with his current 380 ADP.
