4 years agoThe San Francisco 49ers signed free-agent wide receiver Trent Sherfield to a one-year, $920,000 contract with $200,000 guaranteed. Sherfield became an unrestricted free agent when the Arizona Cardinals didn't tender him as a restricted free agent. He will bring some special teams value to San Francisco and will have a chance to compete for a roster spot as receiver depth. The 25-year-old played 504 special teams snaps for the Cardinals in his last three seasons with the team. The 49ers like his skill set for their offense, too, so he'll have a chance among a group of mostly unproven pass-catchers, especially with Kendrick Bourne no longer around.
