Brandon Woodruff Named Opening Day Starter
4 years agoMilwaukee Brewers starting pitcher Brandon Woodruff has been named the team's Opening Day starter. Woodruff gets the honor for the second consecutive year after a strong start to his career as a full-time starter for the Brewers. In 195 1/3 combined innings between 2019 and 2020, the 28-year-old has pitched to a 3.41 ERA with 234 strikeouts against just 48 walks. Woodruff has a devastating upper-90s heater along with an improving slider-changeup off-speed combo- though he also possesses a curveball and sinker, giving him plenty of weapons to keep hitters off-balance in 2021. Woodruff projects as a strong SP2 at his current fourth-round price tag.
