Matt Shoemaker Gives Up Seven Runs In Wednesday's Loss
Minnesota Twins starting pitcher Matt Shoemaker was shelled for seven runs, including two home runs, on seven hits in three innings of a 9-1 loss to the Red Sox on Wednesday. Despite the poor outing, Shoemaker managed to fan three batters, putting a positive spin on what was an otherwise tough day for the veteran. The 34-year-old had tossed 6 1/3 innings of one-run ball before this outing, so there isn't too much reason to panic so long as he's healthy. Shoemaker has the tools to be successful as the Twins' fifth starter- good strikeout and groundball rates with a low walk rate- though he'll be a tough sell to fantasy managers after pitching just 166 combined innings over the last four years.
