CJ Abrams Hammers A Grand Slam
4 years agoSan Diego Padres middle infielder CJ Abrams slugged his second home run of the spring — a grand slam — on Monday. Known for his plus hit tool and blazing speed, the former sixth-overall draft pick from 2019 is now 8-for-30 (.267) this spring with a triple, two home runs, and three stolen bases. Just 20 years old with little experience above rookie ball due to the pandemic, Abrams is holding his own against the more advanced competition, although he does have eight strikeouts. Abrams will likely open the year at San Diego's alternate training site before heading down to A-ball when the minor league season begins. He's ranked by Rotoballer as the fourth-best shortstop in dynasty baseball.
