4 years agoArizona Diamondbacks shortstop Nick Ahmed (knee) may not be back in the Cactus League lineup until next week as he continues to work his way back from stiffness in his right knee. Ahmed was scratched from the lineup on Monday, and while the team doesn't believe the injury is serious, they also want to err on the side of caution. He hasn't had any testing done on the knee, which is an indication that the team's medical staff doesn't think it's anything serious. "It's much better today than it was a week ago," Ahmed said. "And today [it's better] than yesterday. So a little bit of progress every day." It sounds like the 30-year-old should be alright, but it's also something to keep an eye on as we approach Opening Day. Ahmed will provide very modest power and stolen base numbers for those in deep mixed and NL-only leagues as a middle infielder.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
