Brailyn Marquez Behind In Camp
4 years agoChicago Cubs pitching prospect Brailyn Marquez remains behind the rest of the team's arms in spring training after his delayed start to camp, but he has been working through a throwing program, according to manager David Ross. Marquez is ranked by MLB Pipeline as baseball's No. 63 prospect and as Chicago's top prospect. The 22-year-old left-hander allowed five runs on two hits and three walks in two-thirds of an inning in his major league debut last year against the White Sox. But the southpaw can reach triple digits with his fastball and could be a future front-line starter if he can somehow learn to repeat his three-quarters delivery. Given Chicago's lack of velocity in their starting rotation, there's certainly a chance that we see Marquez make his first big league start in 2021.
