Zack Greinke Hasn't Arrived At Spring Training
4 years agoHouston Astros starting pitcher Zack Greinke will have a delayed arrival to spring training for the second straight season, but manager Dusty Baker said that the right-hander will "be here on time." "He's always on time, he's just not early," Baker said. The league's mandatory arrival date is Feb. 27 this year, so Greinke should report to the team's camp in Florida by then. The 37-year-old had a 4.03 ERA (2.80 FIP), 1.13 WHIP and 24.5 percent strikeout rate in 67 innings over his 12 starts for Houston in the shortened 2020 season. The veteran right-hander relies on command and inducing weak contact rather than overpowering hitters, with a career strikeout rate of just 22.4 percent. But as a low-end SP2/high-end SP3, Greinke provides a relatively safe floor at a current ADP of 109.
